You don't have to be an expert to be a volunteer! The museum will train you for the volunteer position that suits your interests and abilities.

Do you enjoy learning and sharing your knowledge with others? If so, please join the family of MSV volunteer Docents! This active group of volunteers is the lifeblood of the museum, and there are many positions available. You can give tours of the historic house and gardens, greet visitors in the MSV, serve as a gallery host, or help out at the Visitor Services Desk or Museum Store. Or, perhaps you’d like to help with our school group programming, assist with special events, or assist with garden maintenance. In return for your time and talents, the museum provides any special training you might need, which includes regular meetings and the opportunity to take an Annual Docent Trip to another museum site. As a museum Docent, you also receive a ten percent discount on all purchases in the Museum Store, and two complimentary passes for admission to the museum complex. For more information about how you can become involved, contact Docent Coordinator Kris Goff at 540-662-1473, Extension 214.
